Edmonton real estate has seen a huge market increase since the end of 2002. Other notable features of Edmonton include the West Edmonton Mall, once the largest shopping mall on planet Earth, Edmonton International Airport, located well outside the city, the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL, and the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL. Edmonton’s economy is seen by most as being based on the oil sands in Northern Alberta. Yet, Edmonton has a thriving post secondary education sector including large institutions such as: The University of Alberta, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Athabasca University, Concordia University College of Alberta, The King’s University College, and Grant MacEwan College. Edmonton also has a large technology sector employing thousands of people. The largest employers of the tech sector are: Telus, General Electric, Dell, IBM, Intuit, and BioWare.
